Every year the students in our forensics program put in countless hours of research, writing cases and speeches, practice, and competition. While this is mostly done for the joy of competition, it would be an oversight not to recognize the efforts that deserve tangible rewards. At the end of this school year, we will hold a potluck awards banquet at which we will honor those students who have excelled in various events over the course of the year. As part of the tradition of our team, we will offer the following honors and recognitions:
NFL Novice/Junior Varsity Patch: Once a student has earned 150 NFL points, they will be awarded the NFL's 3" silver and ruby letterman patch.
NFL Varsity Patch: This patch is awarded once a student has earned 300 NFL points.
Block GBHS Patch: A point total of 500 or higher will qualify a student for a Varsity Letter.
NFL Academic All-American: This prestigious honor is awarded to those competitors who have earned 750 NFL points, maintain a GPA of at least 3.7 (on a 4.0 scale), and have an SAT score of 1400 or ACT score of 27. This award is given only to those students who demonstrate qualities of character, leadership, and commitment as verified by both coach and principal.
NFL Honor Cords: After being a member of the GBHS Forensics Squad for at least two years (one of which must be the senior year) and achieving 1000 NFL points, the student will be presented with the National Forensic League silver and ruby cords to be worn at graduation.
Letters of recommendation: Letters of recommendation are available to all active senior students who ask for them.
